Tension: Buhari must repent and turn back to Islam .

In the course of the passing week, Nigeria has gone through some great ordeal, having to deal with several threats including and not limited to the Edo gubernatorial elections. Below are 10 notable quotes that tell a great deal of what Nigeria has gone through in the passing week.

1. “The victory is good for democracy, for Nigeria and the people of Edo state”
An elated President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, September 29, 2016, took to the telephone to speak with Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state for working for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship election in Edo state.

2. “Our people have spoken loud and clear that they believe in democracy” In his reaction to the electoral victory of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship election in Edo state, Governor Adams Oshiomhole says it is a signal that the acclaimed godfathers in the state have been rendered powerless.

3. “My guess is that many of these are sponsored by people who have so much money and want to create instability” A former governor of Ekiti state and current deputy national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in charge of the south, Segun Oni, has revealed the new dimension to the attacks by herdsmen and other gunmen in the country.

4. “llegal miners were reducing Nigeria’s stake in the solid minerals and other raw materials sectors” The House of Representatives has called on the federal government to declare a state of emergency in the mining sector.

 5. “The youth must watch our elite, especially with the condition we found ourselves. It is unpatriotic for anybody to pretend that economically we have no problem” President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he will continue to blames his predecessors for Nigeria’s current woes.

6. “The APC, a party born of the quest for democratic good governance, is under critical threat by those who managed to be in the party but never of it” The former governor of Lagos state allegedly accussing Oyegun of sabotaging the will of democracy in Ondo state by sending the name of Rotimi Akeredolu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against the decision of the appeal panel that demanded for a fresh governorship primary election in the party for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

7.  “Apologize to Nigerians for the current economic hardship”  Chief scribe of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank saying that there is nothing wrong in trying Patience Jonathan for alleged fraud.

8. “President Muhammadu Buhari should repent and seek forgiveness and return to the religion of Islam”  Shekau, in a new 38 minute video which was posted on YouTube on Sunday, September 25, was seen talking about the Chibok girls.

9. “Democratic government is for unbelievers and it is devilish” Shekau in his new video, discussing the Chibok girls and the state of affairs in Nigeria.

10. “I highlighted the need for the international community to work together to liberate humanity from poverty, save our planet from the devastation of climate change and rid the world of terrorism for a more peaceful and prosperous future.”President Muhammadu Buhari giving his final verdict of the Biafran referendum.

BREAKING: Full cure for HIV-AIDS.

Emerging reports suggest that British scientists could be one step closer towards finding a permanent cure for HIV-AIDS. Huffington Post reports that a 44-year-old social worker in London appears to be completely free of the virus after undergoing an experimental therapy technique. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Whatsapp The man was first given a vaccine which helped his immune system detect infected cells, and then took Vorinostat, a drug which is normally used in experimental cancer treatment trials. The Vorinostat then activates dormant infected cells that would normally slip through the net allowing the body’s immune system to detect and kill every last infected cell

In simple terms what this combination of treatments does is remove the camouflage that allows HIV to remain hidden and then shine a spotlight on it allowing the immune system to clearly identify infected cells and kill them. The researchers have said that there’s an extremely long way to go before they start throwing parties. For starters this is just one man in a trial that involves 50 people. All 50 will need to show similar responses to the treatment, and then even if they do they’ll need to be continually tested for the next five years to make sure the virus has been completely eradicated. That said, this is promising news. For starters this method is essentially a complex and aggressive form of drug therapy, far less invasive and complex as a technique like gene editing. HIV is a virus which attacks the immune system of the human body, making it harder for us to fight off even the mildest illnesses such as colds or coughs. There is currently no cure for HIV, however modern treatments allow those infected with it to go on to live a long and healthy life. AIDS is the final stage of the HIV infection, it occurs when the body can no longer fight life-threatening infections. Those who have been diagnosed with HIV early on will not go on to develop AIDS.

Sheriff, Makarfi to meet Jonathan over PDP.l

OFFICIAL 1.85 NGN/CFA OFFICIAL 315 USD/NGN MARKET 475 USD/NGN BREAKING: Full cure for HIV-AIDS discovered NEWS › Local news Sheriff, Makarfi to meet Jonathan over PDP Soonest Nathaniel 3 minutes ago 89 – The PDP leaders are seeking a means to get the party back on its feet – Faction leaders Senator Ahmed Makarfi and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff have resolved to meet ex-President Jonathan – The leaders are to meet Goodluck Jonathan to sign a peace pact In a bid to resurrect the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from what many have called a political suicide, leaders of the opposition party are set to reach an agreement. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Whatsapp Ali Modu Sheriff (L) and Ahmed Makarfi (R) This Day reports that the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee (NCC) and the faction led by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff have resolved to meet with former President Goodluck Jonathan and the governors elected on its platform to intimate them of the reconciliation plans.

The meeting with the former president and governors is scheduled to take place between Wednesday and Thursday and will be followed by consultative engagements with other key organs of the party including the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the party’s National Caucus. The meeting, which is at the instance of Senators Makarfi and Sheriff, is meant to brief the party’s key stakeholders on their new understanding, to solicit their support and input on the best way to achieve a lasting peace in the party. Discussions on a fresh convention to elect a national leadership for the party will also be on the cards at the meeting. It was learnt that the two party leaders agreed to meet with ex-President Jonathan, in recognition of his position as the leader of the party.

While confirming the latest progress in peace negotiations, the Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Senator Ben Obi, said issues relating to the formation of a joint peace and reconciliation committee would form part of the discussions at the meeting. Obi, who spoke to newsmen on Monday, October 3, said the caretaker committee believes strongly that the ongoing peace moves would lead to a lasting settlement of the dispute in the party.

“The measures that we did not take after our defeat at the elections last year, over one year ago, is what we are going through now. Some of the people did not even understand the vision of the founding fathers of the party, that was the problem.

“How was the party formed? What is the aim and goal of the party? These are the issues that the drivers of the party must understand.

“So we have reached a stage now whereby I think that we are beginning to have some understanding. Only recently, we were able to reach a point where Senators Makarfi and Sheriff met and decided that they must jointly issue a statement.

“Now the next stage is to move on in that stead. This week, we will be briefing stakeholders of the party and we will be coming up with members that will constitute a joint reconciliation committee.

“Don’t forget that you have various peace committees led by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson and Prof. Jerry Gana, all set up by the party to help search for peace and to reconcile the aggrieved parties.

“So by the time we explain the progress being made and how the two leaders agreed to issue a joint statement and other issues, I am sure that we will have a clearer picture of what to do next to further the peace efforts,” he said.

The two principal actors in the PDP dispute – Makarfi and Sheriff – came close to laying to rest their disagreement when they issued a joint statement in Abuja two weeks ago, saying that they had reached an agreement to set in motion a joint reconciliatory process. They said they had agreed to sheathe their swords and would pursue the cause of lasting peace in the party.

TECNO Phantom 6 & 6 Plus break preorder records in Nigeria.

The recently launched TECNO Phantom 6 and 6 Plus have been receiving extra massive attention since their launch which took place in Dubai last weekend.

For the first time in Nigeria, preorder activities got exceeded and dealers even had to increase the price to maintain the target. The mind-blowing specifications of both devices, must be the reason they are receiving large preorder values. The Phantom 6 was initially pre-ordered at NGN88,000 while the 6 Plus was preordered at NGN128,000. Today, the prices have gone way up and Phantom 6 is being preordered at NGN95,000 while 6 Plus is being preordered at NGN138,000. It’s TECNO’s moment and the days of TECNO as a product being looked down upon is history. The preorder has since come to an end. Mo extend the preorder or not is something we are not quite sure about. Those that preordered got a premium Bluetooth speaker and some others got a premium tripod stand. The Phantom 6 Plus is a 6-inch device unlike the Phantom 6 which is 5.5 inches. It’s battery size is a whooping 4050mAH, although it also comes with a USB Type C. Phantom 6 has been spotted to come with two cameras; the upper one being 13 Mega pixels and the lower one being 5 Mega pixels. The front camera remains 8MP, although reviews say the camera performs awesomely. The Phantom 6 also comes with a 3GB of RAM for smooth navigation and a 32GB of ROM which is expandable to 128GB. While we’re still excited about the large RAM and ROM, we found out the pretty phone also comes with an AMOLED screen and a USB Type C charger. The Type C charger charges a dozen times faster than our normal USB Type B chargers, and it looks like it is being adopted everywhere in the world. One major difference between both devices is that the 6 plus has a fingerprint sensor and an eye scanner while the Phantom 6 only has an eye scanner.

Buhari appoints ex Senate president as head of electoral reforms committee.

A former Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Ken Nnamani has been appointed to head a committee on Nigeria’s electoral reform process.

Tinubu meets Oyegun at book presentation in Abuja.

Few days after widespread news of a feud between them, the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been spotted exchanging pleasantries with the APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun.

According to The Vanguard, the duo met during the presentation of a book titled Muhammadu Buhari: The Challenges Of Leadership In Nigeria authored by Prof John Paden at the African Hall, International Conference Centre, Abuja. It would be recalled that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has asked the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to resign for derailing the party’s agenda. Daily Independent reports that Tinubu made the demand on Sunday, September 25, 2016 in a communiqué from his media office. The former governor of Lagos state allegedly accused Oyegun of sabotaging the will of democracy in Ondo state by sending the name of Rotimi Akeredolu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against the decision of the appeal panel that demanded for a fresh governorship primary election in the party for the forthcoming governorship election in the state. In the communiqué, Tinubu reportedly alleged that Oyegun’s subversion of the will of the people proved that he must have been under the influence of a powerful and sinister arm at work.

“The APC, a party born of the quest for democratic good governance, is under critical threat by those who managed to be in the party but never of it. “From the party’s inception, the principles of democratic fairness and justice were to guide APC internal deliberations. Party founders realized that only by intramural fair dealing could the party remain faithful to the progressive ideals that we presented to the Nigerian electorate as our governing creed. If the party could not justly govern itself, it would find it difficult to establish and maintain just government throughout the nation. “In essence, the party was the embodiment of a democratic promise made between its members as well as a democratic vow made to the public. Evidently, some errant members believe promises and vows are mere words to be easily spoken and more easily broken. Chairman John Oyegun has breached these good pledges in a most overt and brazen display. In doing so, Oyegun has dealt a heavy blow to the very party he professes to lead. It is an awful parent who suffocates his own child for the sake of a few naira. The party was supposed to buttress APC members elected to government at all levels. Because of Oyegun’s conduct of our affairs, the party is rapidly becoming an albatross to those it was meant to help.”

I did not lobby to be vice president - Osinbajo

Osinbajo says the role of Christians as spiritual people was not to grumble. Yemi Osinbajo says he never lobbied anybody before he became the vice president of Nigeria. Osinbajo speaking at a service of the Olive Tree Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos on Sunday, October 2, attributed he becoming the vice president of Nigeria to God’s intervention.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the vice president also said Nigeria has gone forward as it turned 56 years and would continue to move forward. Speaking on the backdrop of challenges facing the nation, the vice president likened the situation the country is presently in to biblical times when the nation of Israel were coming out of Egypt. Osinbajo recalled that while he was praying recently, the Lord reminded him of something he asked him to do on the eve of the 2015 presidential election. He said that God asked him to take the communion because he was crossing over and when he did (take the communion), God took him through the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. Recalling the Israelites journey from Egypt to the promise land, he said the first thing that happened was that God himself said if he took the children of Israel through the path where the Philistines lived, they would be afraid and would be asked to return to Egypt. The vice president explained that God took the people through the Red Sea because of their fears.

Continuing his biblical allusion, Osinbajo said by the time the Israelites were about crossing the sea, there was a fight back from where they were coming from as Pharaoh chased them and wanted to bring them back. He said the incident got Moses confused as he did not know what to do as God never told him there would be a Red Sea, a difficulty, in the journey. The vice president added that if God was with us, no one would be against us.
He said: “The reason why I, Yemi Osinbajo, without asking for a position, was given the Vice Presidency of this nation is because God’s hand is in this business. And so, I am completely confident that despite where we are today, it is the dawn of a new beginning. “It has begun to show and surely there is a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.” He noted that “God knows that this country has a plan and purpose in Africa and in the world; the land and purpose will never diminish or be cut short.” Osinbajo urged Christians to be steadfast in times of difficulty, he said the role of Christians as spiritual people was not to grumble. He told the parish that they had a role to play in making the country great. Meanwhile, the threat by President Muhammadu Buhari to deal with Niger Delta militants blowing up oil and gas installations has attracted criticism .
from some leaders from the Niger Delta region. The president made the threat during his Independence Day speech on Saturday, October 1, where he said his administration will not allow mindless groups to hold the country to ransom. Buhari also said no group can unlawfully challenge the authority of the federal government and succeed. However, the president’s Independence Day speech has attracted criticism from across states in the south-south region.
Goodluck, Patience Jonathan seen in Rivers

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan seems to be enjoying his post-presidency period as he was spotted in Rivers state alongside his wife, Patience after disembarking from what many presume to be their private jet. The former president was highly commended when he handed over power to Muhammadu Buhari after the latter defeated him at the 2015 presidential election. Jonathan was cheered by supporters as he alighted from the aeroplane with his wife onSunday, Octomber
One Amos Akere who shared the photos of the former president posted: “The father of democracy former president of Nigeria HE. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife HE Dame Patience Ebele Jonathan live in Port Harcourt” The post elicited various reactions as while some applauded the former president for his service, other blamed for the current economic challenge the country was going through.
Chijioke Michael Igbokwe wrote: Best president ever! He handed over the best economy in Africa, but now, APC has crippled our nation. They have brought us to our very knees, turned us into a nation of beggars and paupers and reduced us to cowardly and timid slaves. Our government is corrupt, weak, paranoid, incompetent, cowardly, fearful of criticism, terrified of strong opposition! This is time. Corruption is everywhere under APC led government. FG decides to use employment to fight insurgency

The Nigerian federal government has decided to approach the fight against insurgency in the Niger Delta with a new method. In partnership with New Era Communication Limited, the FG says it will create 31, 000 jobs annually to take restive youths off the streets. Mr Dennis Chukwu who is the project director of Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), revealed this during a three-day workshop tagged: ‘Career development entrepreneurship skills’ organized by the federal ministry of finance in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state. Mrs Josephine Chukwu, who represented Mr Dennis, the project director said: “The intention of government is to ensure that youths depend less on white collar jobs that make them sit tight, agitating for resource control without thinking of other options if they don’t get it. READ ALSO: JUST IN: Niger Delta Avengers confront security operatives, one militant dead “We want to open their eyes to be self reliant or employable rather than depend on government to employ them, and in a way tackling the rising wave of insurgency in the country, which is not profitable to government and the society. “So, the essence of this programme is to help them think outside the box and see that they do not need white collar jobs to succeed.” Mr Idris Sodiya who was another facilitator at the training explained that the programme which started 10 years ago has now being revamped to help more youths get off the street and stay away from militancy. Meanwhile, a militant group known as the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDJM) bombed a major pipeline belonging to the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company on Thursday, September 29 in Delta state. In a statement released by the militant group by its self-styled Gen Aldo Agbalaja, the group said the attack was a warning to soldiers in the region to desist from their Operation Crocodile Smile operation. PATIENT JONATHAN CASE.

$26 million: Investigate Patience Jonathan now, CSNAC tells police fraud unit
October 3, 2016Akin Oyewobi

The Civil Society Network Against Corruption, CSNAC, has asked the Commissioner of Police in the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigeria Police Force, to urgently commence investigation on an alleged case of fraud and impersonation by former first lady, Patience Jonathan, and one Dipo Oshodi, a manager at Skye Bank Plc.
In a petition forwarded to the Police fraud unit in Lagos and signed by the coalition’s chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, CSNAC said the banking transactions involving Mrs. Jonathan and the Skye bank official, indicate that cases of fraud and impersonation occurred.
The group said following the investigation of a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamowei Dudafa, wherein the EFCC traced four companies’ accounts to him with a balance of $15 million, coupled with the admission of wife of former president, Dame Patience Jonathan, of ownership of the said funds, an additional sum of $5million was traced to her account lodged at Skye Bank Plc.

“The EFCC has subsequently charged Dudafa and the four companies with money laundering.
The four companies, whose accounts have since been frozen, are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited.

“In response to the freezing of the said accounts, Dame Patience Jonathan has filed a N200m fundamental rights enforcement suit against Skye Bank Plc for freezing her bank accounts and supplying the EFCC vital information about her finances.

“However, in the affidavit filed by one Sammie Somiari on behalf of Patience Jonathan in support of the application, he said that it was Dudafa who helped Patience open the four bank accounts which the EFCC froze.”
According to him, Mr. Dudafa had on March 22, 2010 brought two Skye Bank officers, Demola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi, to meet Mrs. Jonathan at home to open five accounts.

“The deponent claimed that Patience was the sole signatory to the accounts.

“He, however, claimed that after the five accounts were opened, Patience later discovered that Dudafa opened only one of the accounts in her name, while the other four were opened in the names of companies belonging to Dudafa.”

Somiari added, “The applicant (Patience) complained about this to Dudafa, who at his prompting and instance promised to effect the change of the said accounts to the applicant’s name; and to effect this change, Dudafa brought the said bank manager, Mr. Dipo Oshodi, who was purported to have effected the changes. This was about April 2014.

“The applicant is not a director, shareholder or participant in the companies named in the aforementioned four accounts.”

“The bank official, Mr. Dipo Oshodi, as it would appear, did not effect or reflect the instruction of the applicant to change the said accounts to her name(s) despite repeated requests of the applicant”.

“Furthermore, besides, the ATM credit cards bearing the said companies’ names were brought to the applicant by Mr. Dipo Oshodi of the second respondent bank, who promised to replace them once the cards bearing the changed names were available, but he never did.”

Mr. Somiari did admit in his affidavit that “However, since 2010 up until 2014 and thereafter, the applicant had been using the cards on the said accounts and operating the said accounts without let or hindrance”.
He further averred “Even in May, June and July 2016, the applicant travelled overseas for medical treatment and was using the said credit cards abroad up until July 7, 2016 or thereabout when the cards stopped functioning.”

CSNAC said that from the foregoing, it is evident that some forms of fraud, impersonation and criminal intentions were conceived, designed and executed in the transaction between Mr. Dudafa, Dame Jonathan, Dipo Oshodi and Skye bank.

“There is no better way to qualify a transaction where companies accounts is operated by an individual as a sole signatory, without any legal connection with the company, and also operate ATM cards of the said companies than fraud, money laundering, criminal conspiracy and impersonation.

“These issues for investigations are: Where is the Know Your Customer regulation for banks under this transaction; why would Mrs. Jonathan open and operate 5 different accounts in the same banks; what information are contained in the signature mandate cards of the companies; and the sources of monies in the accounts?

“CSNAC is therefore by this petition demanding a thorough investigation into the assertions made in the said affidavit as well as subsequent prosecution of Dame Patience Jonathan, the bank manager, Mr. Dipo Oshodi and Dudafa
“This will go a long way in stemming the tide of corruption in Nigeria, as well as, contribute immensely to the war against corruption embarked upon by the present administration. More importantly, it will also show that Nigerian law is supreme and respecter of nobody, irrespective of status,”
CSNAC said.

Nigerian Air Force ‘destroys illegal refineries’ in Rivers

FILE PHOTO: An illegal refinery
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed illegal refineries and barges in the Niger Delta, its spokesman Ayodele Famuyiwa, said in a statement in Abuja on Monday
“In its concerted efforts to stop illegal bunkering and criminal activities in the Niger Delta region, NAF today destroyed illegal oil refineries and barges filled with petroleum products,” Mr. Famuyiwa, a group captain, said.
“The refineries and barges were sighted by NAF Diamond 42 aircraft on Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance mission in Bille Community of Rivers.
“Thereafter, an Mi-24V helicopter gunship was called-in for attack,” Mr. Famuyiwa, who is the Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, said.
He described the operation as very successful and added that a similar operation was carried out with remarkable success earlier in the same location.
“These are clear signals to criminals operating in the South-South region as well as other parts of the country that it is no longer business as usual,” Mr. Famuyiwa said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the destruction of illegal refining facilities by security agencies and their re-installation by oil thieves have become a regular occurrence in the Niger Delta.

Recession: Hold Buhari responsible – Ezeife

ON OCTOBER 3, 2016
By Omeiza Ajayi
Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, who holds a doctorate degree in Economics and who has a Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, award and was Third Republic Governor of Anambra State as well as being a former Presidential Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was also a member of the 2014 National Conference in this interview, the retired permanent secretary, speaks on burning national issues including economic recession, the debate on sale of national assets and the Biafran agitation, among others.

The economic recession is  real. How did we get here?

THE Federal Government pushed the country into recession. Some of the actions are inexcusable. Some are very pitiable. What affects the confidence of economic agents is what they see, what they hear, what they feel.

If the government of the country begins to say the government is broke, they (investors) have nothing to doubt. That accounts for so many exits from Nigeria. There were all kinds of normally unprintable things said by our government: that we are bankrupt, we are broke, we are this and that. They took over and within a very short time they started making negative statements about the economy. This is not a matter of blaming anybody. You just look at how many companies have quit Nigeria.

I know of a friend who brought in some expatriates to co-invest with him here. They were just about to get started when the first salvo from government was fired that the country should not be invested in, because that is what it means; that the country is broke, that it is a poor economic decision to come here. So, the foreigners ran away and the man is still struggling now to get new partners.

Ezeife: For Ndigbo, life without honour is not worth living
Check the number of companies that were here a year-plus ago and how many are here today. Even the airlines, at least the ones that spoke out, said they had no confidence in Nigeria and that was why they were leaving. I have told many people that the blame-game must stop. Now, that (blame-game) is the most stupid thing to do. If it was the fault of the last administration, let him take us to all the things as they were during that administration. Let him take us to the price of rice that was obtainable before he took over; take us to that petrol price; take us to the exchange rate; take us to the market as it existed; take us back to what it was when you took over. Any blame-game is a waste of time.

What is your view on the issue of restructuring?

The issue of restructuring should unite us. There is no reason for disagreement; maybe we do not even understand. I was recently misquoted somewhere as saying that this issue of restructuring is political. Indeed, it is more economic than political. We are concerned about improving the welfare of ordinary Nigerian people. It is not a matter of the rich. Those who are against it may be feudalists, who do not care very much about the welfare of the ordinary people. What am I talking about? The present states, which are not feasible are spreading hunger and suffering to ordinary Nigerians because the states are too small to cater for the economic interests of their people.

I was trying to explain what is called “Economies of Scale”. You don’t have it in politics but in economics. What does it say? When you have large population or space, you can produce anything at lower unit cost than when you have a very small population.

Now, it is not just a matter of lower unit cost but also the capability to establish something like power in any state. For now, the capability is not there because the states are too small to afford what it takes to generate power easily. When you are dealing with water supply, power, transportation, environmental problems, it is always cheaper if you have a larger space, so, the issue is very economic and it is ordinary economy.

Club girl steals customer’s ATM card, withdraws N.3m

By Evelyn Usman

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of Lagos State Police Command, weekend, arrested a club girl, who allegedly stole one of her male customers’ Automated Teller Machine, ATM, while the latter was sleeping.

The suspect said she stole the money to stock her shop and take care of her daughter.

At the time of the arrest, she was discovered to have successfully withdrawn N300,000 from the account. Arrested alongside the 24-year-old suspect, identified as Bamigboye Imoleayo, were three accomplices, among who was her boyfriend.

Two Android phones, eight pairs of trousers and shirts, suspected to have been bought with the illegally-withdrawn money, were recovered from the suspects.

The victim, identified simply as Alli, visited the club on September 23, where he met the suspect.

Apprehension, according to him, set in next day, after he received an SMS debit alert of N90,000 on his phone.

Alli said: “While I was still contemplating on how to deal with the issue, I got another debit alert for buying two Infinix phones totalling N84,000. I was confused and shocked. I didn’t know what action to take on a Saturday evening.

“Again, on Sunday, there was another debit. I couldn’t pin the crime to the lady I met at the club. I lodged a complaint, last Monday morning, at my bank and I was told that the withdrawals and shopping were legitimately made by me.

“I then reported the incident at the RRS’s office. My emphasis to the police was the withdrawals and shopping totalling N300,000. It was unbelievable when I met face-to-face with the suspect, only to discover it was the lady I met at the club.”

There was internal sabotage during Edo polls –Idahosa

3rd October 2016
From Tony Osauzo, Benin

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC)‎ and Political Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Charles Idahosa, alleged at the weekend that there was “internal sabotage” during the Edo State September 28 governorship election.
Idahosa has also called for the restructuring of the party in Edo State.
Appraising the just concluded election, Idahosa insisted there was internal sabotage against the party by some members who allegedly worked for opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He alleged that some party members betrayed the APC at the polls.
“We are going to restructure the APC because there was a lot of internal sabotage during the governorship election,” he said. Speaking specifically on what transpired on election day in Uhunmwode local government area, Idahosa, who is the party leader in area said some party members pretended to workg for the APC yet workedagainst the party’s victory.
“I was very, very sceptical and that was what saved the day. We are going to really look at the party because we suffered a lot of sabotage in this election, but, thank God we won.”
Reacting to PDP’s rejection of the results of the election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Idahosa expressed disappointment and observed that the party’s rejection of the results was made when INEC was yet to conclude announcement of the election results.
“I was disappointed at PDP’s reaction to the election. When you beat a child, you can’t stop him from crying. Let them shed the tears.”
He said contrary to the party’s pre-election rating that it will win, the PDP made noise through propaganda and spreading falsehood about the APC.
He predicted that in 2020, “Obaseki will win in all the 18 local government areas of the state because he is going to work hard like Oshiomhole to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.”
But, another APC‎ chieftain, Senator Domingo Obende faulted Idahosa’s call for restructuring of APC in Edo.
“What is important is that the party got victory at the last election. Whether there was internal sabotage, I don’t think that calls for the restructuring of a party”, he said.
